I think one of the most invaluable minors here at BYU is the Writing and Rhetoric minor. As a budding scientist, one of the biggest challenges that I see with my fellow peers is that many of us are afraid to write or present our research because we struggle to convey our thoughts and emotions in paper and conversation. Doing this minor has helped me gain the confidence and skills necessary to write and speak persuasively. In addition, it has helped me to persuade those around me why my research is important. No matter what your major is, having the ability to speak and write persuasively is critical to have your voice heard in a noisy world.
